Here's another field report I wrote when I first started writing in my pickup journal. I encourage you to write in yours too. It doesn't have to be long. Some days you won't feel like writing at all and that's fine. Just keep it up to date as often as possible. If you have a pickup blog you can link your blog to mine.

Late March 2008:

Met up with Jack and Lin for day game at the MoMa. Kung, Jay, and Irwin later joined us.

I had approach anxiety as usual that was cured by the time I had a few drinks in me. I opened a seated two set, HBNicole and HBConor ( "hey real quick, what do you think about interracial marriages?) , dhv story ("ex indian girlfriend that got hit on at least 5x every time we went out to a bar.") transitioned( "best friends test") , fluffed (talked about relationships, and work), and #closed HBConor. Fluffed some more (Talked about seeing my rapper friend perform the night before) HBNicole said I talked too much. HBConor asked if I wanted to have a cigrarette with her. I said I'm sorry I don't smoke and ejected.

Rolled up to the second bar and opened several hired guns including Hired Gun Veronica before opening HBMarisol with "Hey do you know what an X rated shot?" She says no and I go I can show you what it is. She asks does it involve a bj and I say it requires you being single though. haha Then back and forth bantering with her. She said yes and it was on. I isolated her to the back of the bar and pecked at her. She wasn't receptive. I forgot about the 90-10 rule where you are supposed to move in 90% of the way and stop like an inch away from her mouth to let her go the last 10% of the way. #closed her before leaving the bar.
